Bergisch Gladbach, 16th of January 2023. The charter provider PAS has been certified according to the globally recognised environmental management standard ISO 14001 for the first time. The auditors particularly emphasised the ecological aspects in the procurement of products and services.
The company spent ten months working towards the certificate. The PAS team in Bergisch Gladbach developed its own environmental management system for the ISO award, with which it can achieve and improve its environmental goals.
“We are aware that emissions and resources on air travel are an important indicator for the environmental balance. We want to reduce these step by step,” says Managing Director Birte Kipke. On the one hand, by only working with suppliers and service providers who comply with environmental requirements. On the other hand, by informing customers about the environmental balance of the products and offering compensation. Since mid-2022, all flight offers automatically receive two prices: one with and one without CO2 compensation.
SAF: First broker with sustainable aviation fuel
New and so far unique in the private flight segment, PAS also offers additional refuelling with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), if available at the departure airport. The fuel is not based on fossil fuels, but on biomass or fatty plants. “Although SAF is not yet available nationwide, sustainable fuel is already a pioneering ray of hope for our industry,” says Kipke.
In order to be certified, the daily office routine must also be designed sustainably. PAS limits its paper consumption as much as possible, uses green electricity in the office and at trade fairs, and is supported by an environmental management officer.
Environmental standard complements existing quality standard
In addition to the new ISO 14001 standard, the charter provider has already been certified with its quality management system according to ISO 9001 for five years. In December, the award was confirmed again. PAS quality management covers all stages of the flight journey: Contact history, quotation generation, booking, flight briefing, supplier evaluation and customer feedback.
