In this interview, Alessio Altamura, Managing Director of PAS – Professional Aviation Solutions Srl (PASflights), shares the company’s vision and strategies in the aircraft charter sector. He analyzes market challenges, the needs of clients and partners, and the importance of building strong, long-term relationships with airlines. He also discusses future industry prospects, focusing on customization, flexibility, and sustainability, and explains how PASflights is adapting its offerings to meet the needs of an ever-evolving market.
“The aircraft charter process begins with a consultation to understand the client’s specific needs, including destination, number of passengers, and special requests. Based on this information, we create a tailored offer with various aircraft options that best match the client’s requirements.
Once the client selects an aircraft, we prepare a charter contract outlining costs, cancellation policies, and obligations for both parties. We then handle the operational management of the flight, including flight permits, scheduling, and ground services.
Throughout the journey, we monitor every stage of the operation, from check-in to takeoff, flight, and landing, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Upon request, we also provide operational support services both at the airport and in-flight.
After the flight, we send a dedicated questionnaire to collect client feedback on their overall charter experience, allowing us to continuously improve service quality. The entire process is managed in compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 certified system, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability.”
“Trust-based relationships with airlines are essential to our success. We establish these connections through open and transparent communication. Our team, with years of experience in charter services, maintains constant contact with airline partners to ensure seamless charter flights.
Experts such as Sylvia Kosekova and Dalila Rosa have built strong, trust-based relationships with suppliers. These connections are crucial in delivering high-quality service.”
“Unforeseen events can occur in the charter flight industry, but our experience allows us to manage them efficiently. In case of delays or unexpected issues, we maintain constant communication with passengers and partners, providing real-time updates.
Our operational management team, led by Francesca Sala, works closely with airlines to find alternative solutions, minimizing the impact and maintaining high service quality.”
“A successful Charter Sales professional must possess technical, relational, and negotiation skills. A deep understanding of the industry, regulations, and sales strategies is crucial to providing customized solutions to clients.
Negotiation skills with airlines and suppliers are key to securing the best deals. Likewise, in the private jet charter industry, effective communication and strong relationship-building are just as important as time management and working under pressure.
Proactiveness is essential to anticipate client needs, optimize business opportunities, and continuously enhance service quality.”
“The aircraft charter market is evolving toward greater personalization, flexibility, and sustainability, with increasing interest in private charter flights, especially in business aviation and luxury tourism.
Sustainability is a key value for PASflights, which is committed to implementing eco-friendly solutions such as CO2 emission offset programs.
With its solid expertise and strong relationships with airlines, PASflights is well-positioned to meet the evolving market demands. The opening of new offices in Europe and worldwide, combined with the integration of more sustainable practices, allows us to cater to international demand while improving operational efficiency.”
The organization of group flights, MICE events (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events), and incentive travel often presents a challenge for travel providers, event agencies, and corporate planners: scheduled flights frequently lack flexibility, while full charter flights can appear prohibitively expensive.
With PAS and the digital solution NDC.live, this dilemma is a thing of the past. We combine the best of both worlds, offering a platform that efficiently markets remaining seats on charter flights — reducing costs and maximizing flexibility. Even full charter flights become a cost-effective and attractive option.
NDC.live is a web-based platform designed specifically to manage group bookings and incentive flights with maximum efficiency. It helps travel organizers, MICE planners, and companies streamline their booking processes, automate workflows, and reduce costs.
Another key feature of NDC.live is automated communication regarding flight time changes, gate updates, or other adjustments. Your passengers receive real-time notifications via SMS or email — ensuring a smooth and stress-free travel experience.
With NDC.live, we offer an innovative solution that redefines the entire booking and management process for charter and group flights:
With NDC.live, charter flight management becomes more flexible, efficient, and economical. Thanks to automated processes, intelligent seat marketing, and a user-friendly platform, airlines, charter providers, and MICE agencies can significantly optimize their workflows while enhancing the passenger experience.

Finnish Lapland transforms into a magical world of snowy landscapes, impressive northern lights, and cozy accommodations in winter. With the new PAS charter flights to Kittilä, travelers can start their winter adventure comfortably.
The northernmost part of Finland, Lapland, is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to its arctic nature and the famous Santa Claus, it is primarily the fascinating northern lights that attract numerous visitors to Finland each year.
Lapland extends beyond Finland’s northern borders into Sweden. PAS Polar Air Shuttle now offers regular winter flights from Hanover and Munich to Kittilä. Here are some tips for your winter holiday in Finland.
Kittilä, a small town in northern Finland, transforms into a true wonderland in winter. Those arriving here by charter flight find themselves amidst a breathtaking scenery of snowy forests and frozen lakes. The crisp air and icy silence greet visitors upon their arrival in Kittilä, instantly allowing them to feel the magic of the arctic winter.
The winter months in Kittilä offer an ideal opportunity to witness the fascinating natural phenomenon of Finland’s northern lights. Far from disruptive light sources, travelers can observe the sky in spectacular colors on clear arctic nights – whether over Kittilä or during an excursion into the surrounding wilderness.
The northern lights can be seen in Finnish Lapland on about 200 days a year. Clear skies and a bit of luck are all it takes, with chances increasing the further north you go.
Many people opt to view the lights on snowshoes, skis, motor sleds, or dog sleds, but there are also cozy places where you can comfortably experience the aurora borealis under a glass roof.
Adventure seekers will find numerous winter activities in Kittilä that will get their hearts racing during their European winter trip. From husky sled rides to snowmobile excursions and traditional ice fishing – the choice is vast. The snowy forests invite varied snowshoe hikes, while in Finland skiers and cross-country skiers leave their tracks in the powder snow on well-groomed trails.
Lapland offers the best opportunity for a skiing holiday in Finland. The best ski resorts for children are in Ylläs, Levi, Paljakka, Iso-Syöte, Ruka, and Pyhä, while Ruka and Levi offer the largest nightlife and best après-ski parties. For a quieter environment without crowds, Salla, Iso-Syöte, Suomu, Saariselkä, Olos, or Paljakka are recommended.

A bit more conventional is a reindeer safari. Reindeer safaris are longer sled rides through the winter landscape, lasting from half an hour to a whole day. Meals and coffee breaks by the campfire are often part of the experience. These safaris are a great way to get to know the arctic nature and the people of the north. The leisurely pace makes them suitable for young and old, giving you the opportunity to experience the reindeer from a different perspective and spend more time with them.
The Santa Claus Village is one of the most famous attractions in Lapland, and for a good reason, as you can meet Santa Claus in person all year round. Additionally, the village offers numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes with many delights and entertainment options for visitors.
PAS – Polar Air Shuttle offers regular flights to Lapland for passengers this winter. Until the end of March 2024, specially chartered planes from Eurowings and TuiFly regularly fly to Kittilä. Flights to Finland from Munich and Hanover have been established in cooperation with the international automotive industry.
In the heart of Swedish Lapland, surrounded by snowy forests and shimmering lakes, lies the idyllic town of Arvidsjaur. This region offers an unforgettable travel experience that appeals to all the senses, nestled in an enchanting winter landscape.
Arvidsjaur is located about 110 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle and approximately 160 kilometers west of Luleå in central Lapland. Polar Air Shuttle flies directly to Arvidsjaur Airport from Munich and Hanover with specially chartered planes from Eurowings and TuiFly.
It quickly becomes clear why a flight to Arvidsjaur in Sweden in winter is an absolute dream destination when you consider the unique experiences and the charming atmosphere of the region.
Arvidsjaur in winter resembles a scene from a fairy tale. The region is covered in a deep blanket of snow, trees are adorned in white coats, and the lakes are transformed into glittering ice surfaces. The crisp, cold air adds a special freshness to the landscape, while Sweden’s northern lights turn the night sky into a spectacular display of colors. This winter magic is hard to resist.
Winter sports enthusiasts appreciate northern Scandinavia for its exceptionally long ski season. For holidaymakers seeking something special in Sweden, a husky sled tour or a northern lights safari might be the perfect adventure. Snowmobile tours, snowshoe hikes, and ice skating are also popular winter activities during a ski holiday in Sweden.
In some areas of Swedish Lapland, there are more huskies than people. In the Arvidsjaur region, huskies are loyal companions of the locals. A dog sled ride through the snowy wilderness is an unforgettable experience of your winter holiday in Sweden. The sled dogs pull you through deep forests and across frozen lakes while you enjoy the silence of nature. The interaction with the dogs and the breathtaking scenery make this tour an unforgettable experience.
Arvidsjaur offers optimal conditions to experience the fascinating natural phenomenon of Sweden’s northern lights. Away from disruptive light sources, visitors can admire the dancing lights in the sky. Special northern light tours and observation points allow you to experience the natural spectacle in all its glory.
A trip to Abisko National Park in Swedish Lapland is also worthwhile. Here you will find the Aurora Sky Station, considered one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights. While the solar winds responsible for this phenomenon hit the Earth’s atmosphere year-round, the spectacle can only be seen when it gets dark – from August/September to April.
A visit to Swedish Lapland would not be complete without an insight into the traditional culture of the Sami. In the region, there are Sami villages where visitors can learn more about the lifestyle, reindeer herding, and culture of the Sami indigenous people. Authentic Sami food and handicrafts complete the cultural experience.
Lappstaden (Sami town) in the center of Arvidsjaur is a church town with about 80 well-preserved wooden houses from the 17th century. The Sami lived here when they came from afar to fulfill their church obligations.
The Sami are traditionally very connected to nature. In their dialects, they know around 300 expressions for snow. They have also named every valley and mountain peak and divide the year into eight instead of four seasons. Under the climatic conditions of the Arctic Circle, every change in nature is perceived and planned into the annual cycle.
For many generations, reindeer herding has been part of everyday life. Inland, at the height of Luleå and Arvidsjaur, lies the Geunja Sami Eco Lodge by a lake, offering typical Sami food and overnight stays. The Vinka family introduces their guests to the Sami way of life and customs, where nature and reindeer play a central role. Traditional dishes like reindeer stew and chanterelle soup are prepared over an open fire, and guests stay either in a grass-roofed wooden house or a traditional goathie hut. Depending on the season, highlights of your winter trip to Sweden include hikes on reindeer trails, wildlife safaris, and ice fishing.
The Sami are far ahead of the rest of the world in terms of sustainability. When a reindeer is slaughtered, nothing goes to waste: the meat is an important food source, the hide is turned into rugs, the leather into shoes and accessories, and the antlers into buttons and household items.
Reindeer products are popular souvenirs from Swedish Lapland, as well as felt bags and leather jewelry with delicate silver embellishments. Look for the Sami certificate when purchasing. It consists of the labels ‘Sámi Duodji’ and ‘Sámi Made’ and indicates that the products are genuine Sami handicrafts or products made by Sami.
The numerous frozen lakes and streams offer the perfect backdrop for icy adventures during your winter trip in Europe. Try ice fishing in Sweden and experience the thrill of pulling your own catch from the icy water. Whether it’s salmon, pike, or trout, many fish still bite in Swedish Lapland.
The cuisine in Lapland is influenced by Sami tradition. Local products are the focus – whether grown, hunted, or gathered in the wild. Reindeer meat is an important food source and is processed in many ways. A traditional method of preserving the meat is smoking. Smoked reindeer heart is a particularly delicate delicacy – just don’t think about the cute animals while eating.
Other typical ingredients of northern Swedish cuisine include elk meat and fish such as char, trout, and pike. You should also try Kalix Löjrom (vendace roe) – the first Swedish food to receive a protected designation of origin (PDO) from the EU, putting it on par with champagne, Parma ham, Thuringian sausage, and Allgäu cheese. Cheese is also widely consumed in Swedish Lapland, often produced in small dairies.
Arvidsjaur and its winter surroundings are undoubtedly a destination for those seeking a unique and magical experience. The combination of breathtaking nature, exciting activities, and traditional culture makes this region the perfect place for unforgettable winter adventures.
Polar Air Shuttle is offering increased flights to Arvidsjaur in Sweden this winter. From late November 2023 to the end of March 2024, special charter flights from Eurowings and TuiFly will regularly fly to Arvidsjaur and Kittilä. The flight routes from Munich and Hanover have been established in cooperation with the international automotive industry.
Travel agencies and tour operators specializing in northern Scandinavia can inquire about available seats by email (polar-air-shuttle@pasflights.com). The flights to Lapland are suitable for private travelers, incentive travelers, and groups.
To complete an individual program in the vastness of Swedish Lapland and explore Sweden’s ski resorts and nature on your own, a car is recommended. However, there are also regular train connections between cities and larger towns.
In Arvidsjaur and its surroundings, there is a wide selection of cozy accommodations, from traditional Sami huts to modern hotels. Many accommodations in Sweden offer special winter packages that combine lodging, meals, and activities for a worry-free winter holiday in Sweden.
